Alchemy is delighted to host an Afro Fusion Dance workshop with Bheki Ndlovu from South Africa. Bheki blends traditional dances from the South of Africa including his native Zulu, and brings them to salsa dancers to enhance and develop the dynamics of your body movement and musicality. Experience African power mixed with passion. This is a workshop not to be missed!

ABOUT BHEKI

Now based in Zurich, Bheki was born in Durban, South Africa. He began his career as a dancer performing in many productions and musicals, including: Showboat, Jesus Christ Super Star, the Wizard of Oz, and Sarafina. His dancing talent and expertise took him overseas where he toured through Europe, Australia and Switzerland. 

Bheki's work with renowned filmmakers, choreographers such as Michael Peters (Michael Jackson’s choreographer) and actors (Dennis Haysbert; Stacey Cadman) led him to the fields of choreography, music composition and directing. He has worked hand-in-hand in re-choreographing some of the work of well-known South African groups: Amanpondo and Women Unite. He has also choreographed dancers for Baletsatsi, Pulse (Sun International), and the movie, Goodbye Bafana (South Africa) and T.V series Cave girl (UK). He was a director and choreographer for the production Amakhosi – The Kings of Africa premiered in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.

Bheki is also a highly-effective trainer, facilitator and community mobilizer, with experience fostering youth empowerment, life skills training and creative development all over Africa and parts of Europe, Australia and Canada. He has worked with with the international NGO Dance4Life and Vancouver Pan-African Arts Culture and Film Festival. 

 

Bheki specializes in African dance, Hip Hop, street dance, contemporary dance, theatre dance and salsa. 

In the salsa world, as well as teaching all over South Africa, he has taught and performed at the Cape Town Salsa Festival, Mambo City Congress, London, Moja Afro Festival, Lausanne. He was director of Shikila Dance Project, one of the youth community dance projects we have been supporting through our Alchemy Fund
